RESCUE THE
PERISHING
Lift up your eyes, and look
on the fields; they are white already to harvest, John 4:35.
You can win souls today. We
need laborers in the harvest. Don’t stand back waiting for a call. I am calling you
now!
Jesus went about all the
cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the
Kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw
the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were
scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith He to His disciples, "The
harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the
harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest." Matthew 9:35-38.
Jesus worked. He set us an
example. He came to seek and to save that which is lost. That is the major job of every
Christian today.
There is a lake full of fish
not far from where you are now. If you let the net down at His Word, you will catch fish.
You are a fisher of men. You shall catch men. There are always souls near you. They can be
won. They are waiting for someone to speak to them. It is growing late.
Wherever you are the harvest
is white. Fast and pray until you have a burning compassion in your heart and spirit for
souls.
Some preachers want to be a
"good mixer" when they should be a "good separator." Many preachers
say, Don’t you think it’s harder to win souls all the time?" It is, if you
quit fasting and praying and begin feasting and playing.
Remember where Legion, the
woman at the well, Andrew and many more, went out to win others the day they were
converted. They did not need to wait until they went to a Bible School for four years.
They were not mature sheep; they were sent out as lambs among wolves.
If you can’t win all the
people, you can win some of the people. Twenty-five percent of the seed falls on good
ground and brings forth fruit. The fruit of a Christian is another Christian.
The Holy Ghost gives you
power to witness and change the lives of men. God is convicting people every day. They are
ready for true repentance if we take the Gospel to them. How can they hear without a
preacher? Romans 10:14.
The more heartaches people
have, the easier they can be won to Jesus. People play the fool. They break up hearts and
homes. They drink and do stupid things. This makes them hate themselves. They are ready
for a change. A woman looses her child. A man goes bankrupt. A young girl is pregnant.
People have met up with all kinds of trouble. There are divorces and separations. Young
people have fallen into drugs or alcohol. All this gives us an opportunity to take the
Gospel to the poor fallen humanity. God gives us the equipment to win souls. "For the
weapons of our warfare are not carnel, but mighty through God to the pulling
down of strongholds." 2 Cor. 10:4.
We can move mountains if we
have the faith of a mustard seed. That mustard seed keeps growing and lifting up it’s
head even if it’s smashed, cut down, frozen off or stepped on. It keeps it’s
courage.
We can open the right doors
and make contact with the right person if we pray and are led by the Spirit. We have the
Gospel gun if we can tell the poor wrenched sinner, who is in trouble how to be saved.
Suppose Jesus, Paul and Peter
were here winning souls. How would they do it? They would do the same as they did when
they were here. Each of them preached out of the same Bible that we have. The Word of God
is your infallible equipment to win souls. "You can be led by the Lord where to go,
to whom you must speak, and the right words to say.. "For as many as are led by the
Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." Romans 8:14.
We must not be contented
until each suffering sinner has heard the message. God today so loves the world. He gives
us a living Savior to a dying world. We are on the winning side. Everything is stacked in
our favor if we are on God’s side. When God sends us on thorny ground, He will give
us the iron shoes.
We never read where Jesus was
ever discouraged. He had more opposition than we have. "And let us not be weary in
well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not," Gal. 6:9. Suppose some
don’t hear. Suppose some fish don’t bite. Keep going.
Your trouble with
soul-winning is within yourself. It is never with God. God is always ready. A soul-winner
is a tree of life. There is a joy in winning souls that comes no other way. We bring the
people the gift of life that they may give it to others.
God’s main aim is to
save sinners from hell. The one thing Jesus came for is to win souls. That is why the
church is here. A soul-winner is dealing in eternal values. He is laying up his treasures
in heaven.
People without Christ go to
eternal torment. Wise people will try to prevent people from going to a place like that.
Jesus was born in a dirty stable, the poorest of the poor. He spent 33 years among cruel
people, where He was not welcome. He was subject to hate, spite and disappointment. He was
betrayed by His friends. He was stripped, beaten and nailed to a cross to die. What will
you do to keep sinners out of torment?
